Storytellers

Mackenzie Edwards

Mackenzie Edward has been engaged with the performing arts ever since she can remember. Always one to put on a show and tell a story at a young age, she has turned that into part of her career as an adult in being a creative director and curating artistic events. Her background in dance and choreography has allowed her to tap into the power that the embodiment of narratives hold. Propelling her as a visual memoirist to use the arts to tell story well and create space for others to listen and process.

"I believe that art has the power to connect, and bring about empathy and understanding through shared emotions and experiences. Often times art creates spaces for speaking when words alone don't encapsulate all that one might feel. As the receiver you don't have to be an expert in any one particular artistic medium to be affected by a narrative told through it."

Andre Henry

Andre Henry is an award-winning singer-songwriter specializing in sensitive, intelligent, alternative R&B music. The Atlanta Georgia born singer-songwriter, has garnered favorable comparisons to Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Brian McKnight, and Bob Marley. His silky accessibility is refreshingly diverse and invigoratingly hooky, drawing from soul, jazz, and pop.

He's also a Bible teacher, a recent graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, and curator of The Great Invitation: An Online Devotional for Immortals."

Whether through his music or as a public speaker, as an ethicist Andre has a unique ability to intersect ethical, theological, and cultural points of contention in a way that listeners can envelop and engage.

Delonte Gholston

Delonte is committed to using his passion for art, theology, and social change to bring life and flourishing both to cities and to rural areas. This passion fuels his work with the Downtown LA Clergy Council where he serves as the Director of the Trust Talks, a community transformation initiative between the LAPD and key stakeholders in Downtown LA. It has also led him to provide leadership in community development and social change work in the Appalachian hills of West Virginia and in rural and urban Malawi and South Africa. He also serves as a Pastor for Children at New City Church of Los Angeles and as a teacher at Friends Western School in Pasadena. He is looking forward to getting married in October to his life partner and best friend Claire Wiggins.

Dei Thompson

Dei 'DeiSelah' Thompson is a second year Mdiv Student at Fuller with a concentration of Worship, theology and the arts. She is a spoken word artist and singer/song writer who creates in order to give people the opportunity to feel and to love. She wants to love people through my music; allowing people feel what she feels, and in that feeling, hoping the listener will see that we all are more alike than we are different. She aspires to use the arts to break down barriers that cause the dichotomy that hinders change and restoration.

Tamisha Tyler

From a very early age, art (specifically writing) has played a very influential role in Tamisha Tyler's life, so it would come to no surprise that art would also play an important role in her faith. As a writer, she has written poetry, short stories as well as some theatrical productions. As a leader she has served in ministry since 2001 under various roles including Creative Arts Director and Administrator. As an academic and theologian, she aspires to connect the arts and Christianity in a way that inspires artists to engage their faith and awakens the church to acknowledge the beauty and incredible revelation that is found in art. She holds a B.A in Black Studies from CSULB, an MDiv in Worship, Theology and the Arts from Fuller Theological Seminary and is set to begin a PhD at Fuller focusing on Theology and Culture. With a desire to connect creativity and arts to the education, training and development of future leaders, Tamisha Tyler hopes to continue to gain training and opportunities, both academically and experientially, as she continues on her own journey as a leader, artist and educator in the 21st century.

 Colleen Yvonne Thomas

Colleen  is a theologian, writer, singer, television producer, and spiritual director. Born in Washington, D.C., her passion for storytelling and justice began at an early age. She believes strongly in the incredible power of the media arts, (especially Hollywood music, television, and film) to shape our narratives and influence culture. After graduating from Fuller Seminary’s Theology and Art program in 2008, Colleen went on to produce docu-series for a variety of cable networks including OWN, Oxygen, Bravo, BET and A&E.

Colleen can be found most Sundays singing with a worship ensemble at All Saints Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills. She is also a certified spiritual director through the Spirituality Center at Mount St. Mary’s. Last year, she launched her own spiritual direction service under the banner of The Contemplative Diva, as a means of providing a comprehensive soul care support system to people of influence.

She resides in Venice, CA.
